Nothing special about today....but thought I would just share a few layouts I've done lately....

Royal Wednesday Hop!

How about another great week with a fun hop! You should have joined me from Tina's Blog.

If you just happened on my blog you WANT to start the hop at the beginning so go HERE to the Queen Kat Designs Blog and start at the beginning!

This week the challenge is to use stitching on your cards! You can machine stitch, hand stitch, or even faux stitch, as long as there is some stitching on it!

I went with the faux stitching.





I used two different stamp sets (cuz they are so cute together), the owl is from the HOOTERS stamp set (such cute little owls!!!). The flower is from the Diva Monster Set . I hand drew the stems with a glaze pen and just cut them out.

I love faux stitching and love how it frames every thing, kind of like putting a finishing touch on your design!

Hello!!!!!

HELLO!!!! Is there anybody out there? (just checking!)

How is your Friday going so far? Are you ready for a big holiday weekend (for all our US folks) OR are you just going to have a nice relaxing weekend to chill?

I think we are going to the movies on Saturday (gotta see Night at the Museum!) and then the rest of the weekend (including Monday!) we are going to just chill and do as little as possible). SO for me that means I get to play in my scrappin/stampin stuff!!! Woohooo!

To start the weekend I got my Geisha Girls Stamp Set #2 (just got them!! wooohooo!) and made up this quick little 'hello' card. Think I'll send it to a friend that is having a rough spot right now! Hopefully it will bring a smile to her day....

Magical Monday

Aaahhh...Monday....(who says that?)

It is Monday but we can fill it with a little magic and whimsy by playing with one of the new Whimisical stamps. It takes the 'dread' off of Monday and puts some fun and magic into it.

These stamps can take on any 'mood' that you want them to take on just by choosing different colors. You can make them bright and cheery, with brighter colors and maybe red or brown hair, or you can opt for a little calming effect by maybe black hair and lighter colors. What ever you choose they are all magic...and the magic is in you!

Just thought I'd share...

So...this last weekend, Saturday to be exact, was NSD (National Scrapbook Day) and of course my wonderful hubby let me scrap ALLLLL WEEKEND!!! And I played in a crop at Scrapbook Heaven
and it was called The Music In Me. All the 'themes' were around different genre's of music! There were 10 challenges in all, including the one I got to post....I COMPLETED THEM ALL! Woohooo!

Here is a little 'taste' of what I did!

She Is Serving.....

On the 28th, my girl, my daughter, my friend, leaves for UAE for 3 months!!!

To say that I'm proud of her would be a HUGE understatement....and then on top of that to say that her Dad is proud of her is even MORE of an understatement! He knows because of being a 20 year vet, what it is like to serve and knows all the ins and outs of what her emotions are, what her thoughts are and some of what faces her in the next few months. Although it isn't a LONG deployment, it is one that will keep her apart from her daughter, her husband and her family non the less!

So, today my wonderful hubby was out and about and saw this flag. It is used as a symbol to let others know that you have a family member currently serving. Of course, his pride in her and this country that he loves so much, our country, he brought it home and he himself proudly placed it on our door....I think I saw a tear in his eye too...and of course I cried....I don't fear for her in the typical way that folks fear that their loved one is serving...no, my fear is more for myself....STAY SAFE GIRL!!! Momma and Daddy are PRAYING FOR YOU!!!

What a week....

I have had one of the toughest but yet greatest weeks of my life. I learned so much....I've learned that to be obedient to GOD is tough, but yet, so much what I WANT to do, nothing else, nothing more, nothing less....

Obedience should be easy, and that is what I'm still learning....I'm a hard head....(yea, like you guys didn't know that! HA!) So sometimes my lessons are hard. But those are the ones that we learn from isn't it? At least I can admit that I am learning!!!

Tour was incredible....to see 200 lives changed, feeding those that hunger for physical nourishment, having the opportunity to know that some will be clothed, visiting with those that others would not think about visiting with, and watching STUDENTS learn that worship is not something done inside a building, but it is really what we do every minute of our lives. I have learned to worship more, by watching them learn. I learned that it isn't a 'program' a 'building' or certain words, but it is in giving of ourselves and allowing GOD to be seen....hiding ourselves behind the cross, as one of my favorite pastors used to say.

Many thank yous to all those that have left me words of encouragement, and prayers that have gone to the ears of the Father on our behalf....for that I am forever grateful!

In loving memory....

Has been a rough week around my house....my beautiful 94 year old mother passed away yesterday....she was so incredible that she still lived alone and still worked 1/2 a day!!! She worked up until last Friday. Wednesday morning about 12:30 she was admitted to the hospital with problems with her gall bladder and pancreas....they also found some heart problems and eventually discovered that her blood was septic.....so yesterday around 3pm she passed away.

Here is a layout I did about her when she received the outstanding citizen award for Arkansas 2 years ago! She was honored and loved by many! I love you mom, and I will miss you....

You Brighten My Day

And that is the TRUTH! So often we all just need a simple smile, a simple "Hello, how are you doing?" just to let us know that someone is thinking about us....

Today's times are getting harder and harder....jobs, stock market, just general life is hard....(boy do I sound like gloom and doom....sorry). SOOOOO what a better thing to do than to go get a book of stamps...and send some LOVE to just spread some smiles! Let someone know you are thinking about them, praying for them or just want to put a simple smile on their face!

Here is a simple little card that I'm going to send out to a dear friend....she is actually my mother-in-law's cousin....She is in her 80's and I KNOW she would soooo appreciate a little smile!



So...what do you say...I CHALLENGE YOU TODAY to make a card and JUST SEND IT for NOOOO reason, other to say you are thinking of them today! After you make the card, and just before you send it, stop and share it with us! Let us know who you sent it to and why! I know even that will bring smiles on our faces!!!!

Royal Memory Maker Call!

Do you stamp? Are you a stamping scrapbooker? Are you addicted to Clear stamps? Then apply now. You will be responsible for making 4 samples a month along with blog posts and message board duties. You will coordinate with the other court members to help with different things that Queen Kat Designs is involved in.

You will receive 1 or more new stamp sets each month. You will be responsible for 4 samples per set you receive. This team has a 6 month term beginning May 1, 2009 and ending October 31, 2009.

Royal Court Call!!!

The Queen Kat Designs Royal Court is looking for a new Royal Stamping Maid. This team receives new stamps each month. The term is 12 months for this round. (April 1, 2009-March 30, 2010).

We are accepting applications from February 16, 2009 through March 15, 2009. You are not required to use Queen Kat Designs images for this call but it’s a plus if you do. At this time we are only accepting applications from US residents and people with current blogs.

Queen Kat is looking for one very special person to help with designing 6 special super duper cards a month. Do you have writing ability? Can you provide fun, funky and creative cards? Do you want to be a part of the Queen Kat Designs classes? Then fill out the application and send it in! Only serious applicants only please.

Royal Court Responsibilities
Royal Court members will create 6 original card designs per month. A document outlining assignment requirements will be provided if you are selected for the team. In addition, Royal Court members are expected to submit work for publication in print media and to post QKD projects regularly in online galleries and blogs. Designers must be able to submit their best work consistently and to meet regular deadlines.

Royal Court Perks
Each month you will receive new stamps to work with and keep for your collection. Royal Court members receive generous discounts on QKD stamps and other products. Wow....what a movie! Dh took Lydia and me to see a movie today....

Actually, I invaded on a date he had with Lydia...lol....she wanted him to take her to see Taken...OH MY HEAVENS.....all I gotta say, is make sure you go to see this movie WELLLLLLL rested! You will be exhausted after it is over! I sat at the edge of my see the whole time. And I will NEVER let my daughter travel anywhere without her dad! LOL!

Anyway...we are home and I'm just chillin, trying to find some mojo...if anyone has any send it my way would ya!?

In the mean time, I did have a little last week and here are a few of my creations from that...
This one I did for part of the ASF Weekly Dare...a layout about ourselves...I did this to remind me to be still...that is soooo hard!

This one has some pictures that Reva took around Grandma's house...all of these items hold a special place in my childhood memories!

Friday Goodie!

Okay...I just can't get enough of the January Royal kit from Queen Kat Designs....I LOVE every thing about it. The colors, the stamps, the everything!

I realized as I looked through my cards the other day looking for a birthday card for my daughter to give to a friend that I am wayyyy short on birthday cards! So...I whipped this one up to add to my stash! Think I'll do a few more from this kit for birthdays!

New Year and a NEW Day

Just a quick post to start 2009 off! Hope you all have a wonderful 2009 and are blessed beyond measure! Did you do anything fun to bring the new year in?

My wonderful hubby and I just spent it together, upstairs....quiet and peaceful. We watched out the window as the neighbors gave us a beautiful fireworks show and enjoyed each others company...I am truly blessed with this man!
